First peaks of the Alps

The Pic des Têtes

Highest point: 8,000 feet. 4,200 feet up gradient. 7- hour walk.

From a forest of pine and spruce, you will go up to high pastures where a long upward traverse awaits you.

Then you will climb scree and boulders leading to the summit. As a reward to your endeavours, you will find an amazing lanscape overhanging the impressive Cirque de Galèbre, right in front of Massif de l'Estrop (around 9,000 feet). There, you will understand the true dimension of this country...

Coming back on an other way in the beautiful Alpine pastures, you will reach a small gorge whom torrent will carry you to the Vallée du Bès.

 

The Aiguillette

Highest point: 7,850 feet. 3,600 feet up gradient. 6,30- hour walk.

You will climb along a torrent to reach wide mountain pastures, kingdom of marmots and quite renowned for its mules.

You will keep on going up to cross a ravine and climb an aerial ridge, in order to reach the foot of the pyramidal summit. You will have to pick your way through a pretty steep crest, before standing on top of the peak.

An awe-inspiring sight awaits you, going from the hills of Provence to the highest massifs of the French an Italian Alps...

Coming down requires close attention. You will then follow a grassy ridge with exceptionnal Alpine Flora, leading you step by step down to the Vallée de la Blanche.
